COUCOU CHLOE

COUCOU CHLOE is playing a Sphinx-like game of sonic hide and seek. Inspired by a chaotic mix of life and isolation, the French-born, London based artist, vocalist and producer chops and creates away from the  spotlight. She weaves warped animal samples and intensely deep diaristic  lyrics into austere, skeletal beats, futuristic compositions and pounding club  anthems best enjoyed in the dark. Then delivers the finished product centre  stage, in the flesh, with explosive live performances for writhing mosh-pits of fans.

On her forthcoming, self-released project, FEVER DREAM, COUCOU  CHLOE is unleashing the full spectrum of her emotions.

“One fan can't feel intensely about every song I make, but I just want them  to listen to the music and be like, 'I felt at home' and 'I felt understood' or 'I  felt something'." COUCOU CHLOE states.

"I'm not trying to make something that sounds "fresh" or "new" I want  people to hear my voice more today because I feel like there are things I  want to express with words more clearly than I used to. Right now, that's  where I'm reaching sonically."

Across FEVER DREAM, COUCOU CHLOE flexes the evolution of her  technical prowess and artistic skillset while plunging even deeper into  herself, exploring visceral loss, perception of time, twisted romance, and  beyond.

"The inspiration behind the new music/project is life. The more you grow  and understand living and the complexities of your emotions, the more you  can express that. Almost everything I've experienced has become material  for me to share."

FEVER DREAM is more impassioned and club-driven than ever, with  returning features ranging from 645AR, MATT OX, EARTHEATER, NENE,  WOESUM, BRODINSKI, TONY SELTZER and KAI WHINSTON.

The debut single 'DRIFT' (out July 19th) is a slimy bass ballad and one of  six of the ten-track project which COUCOU CHLOE produced alongside  dancefloor heaters' SNAKES' and the second release' POKERFACE.'

COUCOU CHLOE bravely confronts grief in the beautifully haunting and  melodic 'NEVER' then revisits her past on 'TITN PART 2.'

"Both tracks have a deeply personal link. 'TITN PART 2' was a track I wrote  a long ago when I released my second EP, NAUGHTY DOG. I changed the  lyrics last minute, and when I heard them, it hit me that those lyrics weren't  what I wanted to say. So I took the song down from NAUGHTY DOG."

COUCOU CHLOE reveals. "I'm releasing it on FEVER DREAM, with the  original lyrics. It didn't feel right then, but it feels good now. It's honest and  how it was supposed to be in the first place."

Multiple elements of COUCOU CHLOES's character and aesthetic are  unveiled in FEVER DREAM, lced between personal touches including the  album artwork, which is a handdrawn caricature.

"I love the idea of experimenting with perception and the process of being  drawn by someone who doesn't know anything about me. I find the concept  so interesting." COUCOU CHLOE beams 'I could be goofy or super grotesque. It's so simple and so impulsive, just 'What do I reflect?' and  'How do others see me."

COUCOU CHLOE test-drove demos and rough drafts from FEVER  DREAM across a series of incendiary performances this summer, including  Wide Awake London and BBK Live in Bilbao, which clocked palpable hype  and cemented MIXTAPE, COUCOU CHLOE's first solo release since 2021,  as more than worth the wait.

When pressed to articulate what she hopes fans will experience from the  project, COUCOU CHLOE says "Even though Im talking about being  trapped, there is no barrier to the music. There is freedom. I hope my  vulnerability brings people empowerment.” she continues “I also want to  bring chaos. I want my music to spark conversation. I want people to be  like, 'I hate this song. I'm going to go smoke a cigarette.' I want them to feel  sexy, I want people to fuck on my music, I want people to be dirty on my  shit. Bring your animal instincts. It's your safe place to be as nasty as you  want."

A constant voyeur of expression, Erika Jane aka COUCOU CHLOE began  honing her abilities as a multi-hyphenated artist at 4 years old. Between  video games, she trained as a classical pianist, then dabbled on a  keyboard she purchased herself, creating her own music by collecting  outdoor sound recordings, drafting experimental productions and eventually  enrolling in the elite contemporary art school Villa Arson.

Stifled in France's art world, she decided to pursue her passion elsewhere  and persevere with production on bootleg software handed down to her by  her brother, who also inspired her musical moniker after singing 'COUCOU  CHLOE' into a birthday card.

Based in London, COUCOU CHLOE tore into the music scene on a fast  and ferocious come-up.

In a year, she made waves at outsider club nights like PDA, Bala Club and  Oscillate Wildly. Then she made her debut with the 2016 EP Halo for Berlin  label Creamcake, following up with an NTS residency and her first-ever DJ  set for Boiler Room.

Off the back of her Boiler Room set COUCOU CHLOE continued to clock  clout on the underground and was in demand booking shows. By 2017 she  gained traction as part of the forward-facing radical club collective NUXXE  alongside SHYGIRL and SEGA BODEGA, dropping her self-titled EP  ERIKA JANE and 2019's NAUGHTY DOG.

Her unique prowess as a producer and artist led her to DJ for Burberry and  other design houses, from Prada, Gucci to Lanvin, and model.  She jumped on tour with MYKKI BLANCO and remixed tracks with  EARTHEATER and LADY GAGA, who invited her to remix 'Stupid Love' for her Dawn of Chromatica project.

In 2021, COUCOU CHLOE dropped a four-track, self-produced EP ONE,  which at that point was her most substantial and raw music to date. The the  press release cited ONE as a quantum leap forward into COUCOU  CHLOE'S sound. While models stomped down catwalks to exhilarating  singles' WIZZ' and 'ZERO FIVE STARS' at pounding decibels, COUCOU  CHLOE had a personal revelation.

COUCOU CHLOE continued to go from strength to strength. She closed  out 2022 by linking up with an illustrious list of her musical influences for her remix project 1. From New York-based experimentalist Eartheater and  Brooklyn producer Tony Seltzer. To Stockholm artist and cult icon  COBRAH, London producer KELVIN KRASH (A$AP ROCKY, TYLER THE  CREATOR), French rapper 8RUKI and trap luminary BRODINSKI, ZURICH  artist and sound-designer MODULAW, and KAI WHINSTON.

COUCOU CHLOE has been fiercely raw in sharing the complexities of her  inner workings with her fans from the outset and electrifying them once in  her world. In 2023, as she gears up for the hugely hyped release of FEVER  DREAM, COUCOU CHLOE is at the top of her game, veering into multiple  mediums and unleashing an intoxicating spectrum of her sonic aesthetic  and deepest emotions.

In October, she will kick off a multiple-stop headline tour in Europe,  including Village Underground in London, Spain, Germany, Italy, Hungary,  France and Georgia.

FEVER DREAM is out September 27th 2023
